    Kansas City Obsessed

    Hi Loves,

So its no secret that I’m a fan of my hometown, Kansas City. Funny thing is when I was living there, I couldn’t wait to move to a bigger city with a cooler vibe. Well, the joke is on me! KC grew up and became a hip town.

Come on and follow me for a tour lol! No not really, I need a tour guide anymore. I feel like a tourist and want to check out all the cool spots. These Spanish Steps are located on the Country Club Plaza and have led to the McCormick & Schmick’s Restaurant at the top for years now. At least this hasn’t changed…yet!

I love how the blue and white stripes on my jumpsuit matched the stairs perfectly! Thanks Plaza for the help with my photoshoot haha! This whole look was fun yet comfortable. I love wandering in and out of the stores on the Plaza in these heels which are so cozy.

Here I go again claiming my stairs!

I love this simple cross body bag. Aren’t the tassel details just the cutest?! An amazing surprise from the Rachel Zoe Box of Style.

I always try to not over-accessorize. Sometimes I still might go a little too far haha!

These earrings are by far my favorite and are by a Kansas City local jewelry designer. I’ll link her info down below!

  • Rebel White After Labor Day

    Rebel White After Labor Day

    Hey Babes!

So living in Phoenix makes it the perfect place to keep celebrating summer for at least two more months. I know the rest of the U.S. is getting ready for plaid shirts, cardis and pumpkin spice lattes, but I LOVE white!

I will continue to bring it out all year. I never get to wear white denim in Phoenix really, because well no one should wear denim in 120 degrees! Now my new beautiful white dress is more of a maxi, so I’m thinking I’ll transition it with short gray booties and a cute pink bomber when and IF it ever gets cooler here.

When I saw this dress I knew I wanted to shoot it in Europe with a rustic looking background and an old building feel.  Since, I’m stuck at home this year I found this amazing door!! I’m hoping next summer to pack up this dress (and the yellow gingham two piece) for my summer travels!!

These earrings arrived just in time for me to shoot this outfit! I love the almost filagree look and the chandelier style.

I found these sunnies in a little store in Flagstaff. I love small boutiques and fun finds. I saw one of my favorite bloggers, Emily from Stiletto Beats wearing white sunnies all summer, and I have been on the hunt forever. Her pair was a bit pricey haha. I got these for like $7.50! Score!

My beautiful choker necklace was from my Rocksbox subscription. I actually bought this one because I loved the dainty little discs and the layers!

These shoes are still one of my favorite pair. The suede is super soft and the block heel makes it easy to wear all day! And yes they are still available.

  • Brave Wings Fashion Show

    Brave Wings Fashion Show

    Hi Babes

This past weekend I attended a special fashion show that promotes local design talent as the main show. They look to support a different charity each year in order to give back to the community.

    –Photo provided by Russ Paperman

I was lucky enough to be a featured fashion blogger in attendance this year with my fellow blogger gals. From left to right: Kate Berkley a new Phoenix transplant, who is a beauty blogger, me, then the lovely Siara Rochell, the most fun gal Laci Leigh, and finally the always elegant Neyda.

    —photo provided by Russ Paperman

It seems always like a bit of pressure to pick what you should wear to a fashion event lol. Most people there as so into fashion and their knowledge is so high. This year I chose a simple jumpsuit with a lower heel (always seems to be a lot of standing at these events). I decided to choose jewelry that was bolder than I usually wear to offset the simple design of the jumpsuit.

    –photo provided by Russ Paperman

The show featured several local designers with very varied outlooks. Some of it bordered on what I consider more couture design (a bit out there for me haha), one designer even featured swimwear.

The event was held at the new F.A.B.R.I.C. building in Tempe, AZ. This is the new home for various companies that all focus on fashion design, construction and mostly importantly instruction in that they provide classes in sewing, pattern making, design and manufacturing.

One of my favorite designers was YANDY . They feature sexy lingerie and swimwear. I loved the different looks from racy to a bit more demure. Down below is a snipet of the actual show!

The Tiger Lily Dress Shop showcased some almost Flamenco inspired dresses which I LOVED! Sorry about the photos not being so great. I’m the worst at taking photos during the shows. I just watch and drool over all the fabrics and the pretty dresses!

I did manage to get a little video of these super fun dresses. Check it out down below!

My final favorite designer was Mabellachic. I loved these really cute pants with a gathered/ruched hemline at the ankle. I got one really fast photo as the model walked past me. These gals seem to walk faster and faster each year haha!

I love the idea of raising charitable funds at the same time giving emerging local designers the chance to show their hard work to a very appreciative audience. Thanks Brave Wings for inviting me!

  • Sedona Day Trip

    Sedona Day Trip

    Hi Lovelies!

I had so much fun a couple of weeks ago when I went to Sedona. It is about an hour and half drive from Phoenix and usually 20 degrees cooler too!

We started by exploring the shopping district known as Tlaquepaque, which was built like an old Spanish mission. I love the architecture and the pathways here.

It really has an old world feel, but it is filled with lots of little shops and restaurants and even art galleries!

I knew I wanted to pick a comfortable outfit to be able to go exploring this day. I was so excited when I found these pants online and 50% off sale! Like seriously what is best, but all the cute things on SALE!

Just an FYI, these pants are a linen like fabric and do wrinkle, but again aren’t they are so cute!?!?!

I paired silver jewelry this time, which is so hard for me to leave gold metals lol.

The Spanish tiles everywhere just make for the prettiest backgrounds and make me so happy!

I love beautiful fountains. My parents back home have a few in their garden and the sound is so relaxing.

If you plan a trip to Sedona, go earlier, the shops open at 10 am and its pretty full after that haha. It is such a pretty location and feels as if you needed your passport to get there. I’ve linked my outfit details down below!

    Pants: Banana Republic (on sale)!

Crop Top: Vida Moulin (just 2 left–hurry)!

Earrings: Adornmonde ( they come in gold too)

Bag: my sister gifted me from an island somewhere lol

Wedges: sold out Tory Burch: Similar

Boater Hat: Romwe ( its $14)!!

  • Stop and Smell The Roses

    Stop and Smell The Roses

    Hi Lovelies!

I was so excited to take part in the very first workshop held by Bobbie’s Flowers in Tempe, Arizona.

As a blogger, I’ve gotten invited to many fun events, but anyone that knows me even a little, knows that it has forever been a dream of mine to have a flower shop! I am flower crazy! Peonies have been my favorite for years before anybody knew about them on Instagram lol. My Mom has a huge garden back home in Kansas City, and I love all the flowers there like: Irises, Lilacs, red Peonies, Magnolias, Delphiniums and Hollyhocks!

We started our tour with some time in the freezer (yes my time was very short in there as I am a huge wimp). I did hear that all newly arrived flowers spend time in the freezer first before being cut and placed into water (at I think I heard that.. my teeth were chattering).

Our teacher was Paula, who has worked at Bobbie’s Flowers for many years. She was super knowledgable and very nice. Paula taught us how to take a grower’s bunch of flowers and start by separating them into at least 3 main groups: 1. greens; 2. large statement flowers; 3. smaller bunches of flowers ( or seed pods, etc).

I picked this one for my arrangement!

Paula told us when we chose our vase, bottle, bucket or what ever we wish to put our flowers in, make sure to measure each flower stem by leaning the stem against a tall table and eyeballing it for where to cut the stem.

    –shot by Jacqueline Treviño

We are all seriously concentrating listening to Paula haha! It was really fun for reals!

Paula was a great teacher. I know she asked us to make our flowers shorter, but I like my flowers all tall and crazy like lol.

This was right before dividing up my flowers and greens! I got an orange colored mason jar as my receptacle!

    Such gorgeous blooms right?!?

My floral masterpiece when it was done!

I think we all left there smiling the whole way home! It was so much fun and I really loved it. They are lucky at Bobbie’s that I live so far away; or, I may just show up there all the time to hang out and play with flowers. One more tip that Paula told us was to change the water daily and re-cut the stem at an angle, not straight across, this gives the stem more surface space to absorb water. Do this each day too. This makes your flowers last longer!

My blooms (above) at my house almost a week later ( I did lose a few tiny ones, but most of them were still pretty great)! If you are in the Phoenix area stay tuned for upcoming workshops such as this one at Bobbie’s Flowers. A really big thank you to Paula (our teacher) and Kim from Clothes Minded Boutique who connected us blogger gals with this awesome experience!

  • Summer Sundress with Thred Up

    Summer Sundress with Thred Up

    Hi Babes!

I had the opportunity to try out ThredUp recently and I was really surprised how many choices I had to pick from. I love the variety of colors and sizes and the site is so easy to use. I know there are other second hand online stores, but ThredUp choses the most on trend pieces and it has to be of the highest quality.

I was on the lookout for new summer sundresses and I found a great one. I am crazy about bright colors for summer and just fell in love with the details on this dress.

I find that mixing textures with a solid color dress makes you accessories pop! This fun patterned clutch and the multi-colored bead bracelets were a perfect addition to this dress.

The fun flounce detail and the zipper accent are just so cute! Right?!?!?

ThredUp is so fun because you pay 90% of regular prices for second hand clothes. I picked out 2 dresses (see previous post) for $30. If you have clothes or accessories that you no longer wear they will send you a postage paid bag to “clean out” your closet and you get paid for this! Head on over and check out ThredUp for your own cute summer dress!

  • Off The Shoulder Still Going Strong

Off The Shoulder Still Going Strong

    Hi Babes!

So I am still craaaazy about anything off the shoulder. It is so cute, yet sexy at the same time. The Off The Shoulder (OTS) trend has been around for a few summers now. I still love the variety of ideas you can style with this look.

This dress has the cutest print that can be perfect for Spring, but the colors can take you way into fall. I love the way it fits loosely, which is something I never choose actually. This is my first more baby doll like style dress ever. I got tons of compliments walking around the vineyards this day. This was so fun to shoot at this vineyard, the trellis was getting covered with grapes just coming in!

This dress has the cutest slevee details with the cut-outs and the little ties that make it super special.

Paige Spring Cellars Is located in Cornville, AZ just outside of Cottonwood and very near Sedona. Its an easy 1 hour and 15 minute drive from North Phoenix. The property is so pretty and has lots of nice areas to take photos.

The vineyard photos are still one of my favorite photoshoots ever. Of course drinking wine during the shoot was fun LOL!

Sorry for the photo overload, this is seriously one of my most favorite dresses ever! It was the dress that I modeled in a fashion show about a month ago for my friend Kim. She is the owner of the online boutique called Clothes Minded Boutique . This dress is still available in all sizes. I will link it below and all my accessories too!

  • Thred Up Summer Find

    Thred Up Summer Find

    Hi Babes!

So this summer I’m going to try and not buy so many sundresses ( yeah ok not true lol). I have quite the collection over the years. I love sundress weather! I just used the website thredUp to find a cute dress, but for so much less! Win win right?!?!?

This dress is so cute and comfortable for the pool or even brunch. I had heard of thredUp before, but not for buying, just for cleaning out my closet haha.

I am so obsessed with bright colors and thredUp has a big selection of these fun sundresses you should check out!

  • Spring Pastels

    Spring Pastels

    Hi!

I’ve been so excited about the cooler weather here in Phoenix. It seems we get only two seasons (cold and hot) here instead of four. I feel like I miss out on some cute trends because it gets so blazing hot here so fast. One trend I was happy to wear this Spring is pastel pants. In this case, pink denim pants.

Mine are actually a super lightweight corduroy fabric. I wanted to feature the pink pant as the main focus and so I styled this with black instead of another pastel color. Ya know avoiding the whole rainbow sherbert look haha.

I paired these long boho earrings with a real simple necklace. Of course my obsession with hats continues lol.

So this was a funny day when after I was pretty rain-soaked, but we just kept shooting outfits. My hair was beyond natural frizzy curly haha. I know that any minute it will be back to 115F degrees here. In the meantime I will wear my cute pink pants!

    Pants: Rue 21

Off the shoulder top: Altar’d state

    Booties: Forever 21

  • Blue Tobi Jumpsuit

    Blue Tobi Jumpsuit

    Hi Loves!

So I recently was invited to a brunch hosted by Shane Co. at the gorgeous resort, The Royal Palms. It was the most perfect day. This is still my favorite resort in town. It has a more boutique feel, yet very tropical too. I immediately knew I wanted to wear my new blue jumpsuit from Tobi

This dark blue jumpsuit is super chic. I love the more tapered leg and the zipper detail at the bottom. I really love the ease of movement and the overall construction of the fabric. This is actually my third Tobi jumpsuit. I love how they fit me so much!

I styled very modern simple jewelry with this jumpsuit. This long gold tassel choker necklace has been sitting around waiting for the perfect outfit lol.  I also paired my new favorite Jennifer Janesko earrings. They have a sleek modern bar feel to them.
